France Ecosse

Why do I see in France cars from UK with a “ECOSSE” sticker ? Why not “Scotland”, or simply “GB”?
I’m French. Please excuse my english…
A specific and precise link with the “Auld alliance” ?
Ecosse is French for Scotland. France had been allied with Scotland on and off since the 1300’s, Various Scottish armies fighting for and in France against the ‘auld enemy (England) against Henry V and others.
France and Scotland conspired throughout medieval times and beyond to assist each other against England. When France occasionally declared war on England the Scots generally started border raids on England thereby tying up troops in the north of the country…
Stopped quickly enough when James VI Scotland became James 1 England (and thus Great Britain was born).
Also seen on Scot’s cars is ALBA – no, not the electronics company – it is Gaelic for Scotland.
Scots in general are a very nationalist people. Lots would love to become independent from the UK. Strong nationalist identity, flying either the “Saltire” (St Andrews Cross) or the “King’s Lion” (or both) flags rather than the Union Flag.
ps,
I am an Englishman living in NE Scotland…………help !!!!!
