math help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
A sales associate sold his 400 rugby jerseys. Some were $29 each and the rest were $34 dollars each. The total from these sales were $12685.
A.Write a system of equations to find the number of jerseys sold for $29 (x) and the number of jerseys sold for $34 (y)
B. How many jerseys were sold for $34 dollars?????????
let x=# ofjerseys that cost $29
let y=# ofjerseys that cost $34
so
x+y=400….eqtn 1
$29x + $34y=$12685….eqtn 2
from eqtn 1
y=400-x
sub y= 400-x into eqnt 2
$29x + $34(400-x)=$12685.
29x-34x=12685-13600
-5x= -915
hence, x=183
sub x=183 into eqtn 1
y=400-x
y=400-180
y=217
so 217 jersesy were sold @ 34
