British And Irish Lions Rugby
Please Help Me Im So Confused?
Ok, So This British and Irish Lions Team is made up of the 4 Nations in the UK, but who are
Highveld XV
Golden Lions
Cheetahs
Sharks
Western Province
Southern Kings
Who are these teams?
and why do they have to play South Africa 3 times they played them today and still have two more tests against them but why is this?
and on Tuesday why do they have to play the Emerging Springboks (I am guessing this is the South Africa Youth team obviously) but they play the world champions SA and they dont play any other big teams like Italy, France etc
and a further thing i seen live Rugby games comming up next week and it is England Saxons vs Ireland ‘A’ now who are these two
i have onli really started following rugby so please help me
The Lions are made up of England,Wales,Scotland and Ireland.
Highfield is a division two club team, I think
Golden lions,cheetas,sharks,southern kings are all super 14 club teams,Super 14 is like the premiership of New Zealand,Australia and South Africa.
Western province is like a regional team, kinda like a county or state side, made up from the best players in a certain area.
Every Four years the lions tour a different country and only one, it’s tradition. The three games make up a “series”, basically best out of 3 matches win.
Emerging Boks is not a youth team but is the second team of South africa, but they do use this to give experience to young talent.
England Saxons and Ireland A are the second teams of England and Ireland- This means they are one level down from full international and these teams compete in the Curchill Cup.
