What is GOOD about Danny Cipriani?
I asked a question about Danny Cipriani and I saw many people describe him as ‘good’.
I’m confused about this.
I’ll concede I’ve only seen him in the England shirt (And I admit I’m ignorant of first calss British Rugby) but from what I’ve seen I formed the opinion he’s all hype.
He’s plainly too slow, and he lacks the size and more blatantly the technique and skill to compensate for it. I can’t imagine him ever making the grade at first class level back in NZ. I can only guess that his rise in fame is due to hype from an English Rugby establishment desperate to continue the interest stirred by the sublime Jonny Wilko and the world cup win of 2003 with a strapping young chav to put on the back of the tabloids.
Have I just missed him at his best playing for London Wasps (or whatever they’re called) or is it just the case of English people not actually knowing anything about Rugby?
He is horrible, he is slow, won’t take on the defensive line, and his technique is terribad. Martin Johnson keeps trying to make him fulfil potential he doesn’t have. Toby Flood and Charlie Hodgson should be the two Fly-Halves for England. Cipriani isn’t even the best Fly-Half for Wasps, Dave Walder is.
